RLBFB, mid-split (1971–1972)[]
The "limbo"-like era in which the split has occurred, but RLBFB 17, the pivotal episode confirming a new storyline, has not yet been released.
1971 | |
20 December | RLBFB 16: For a few months, the contestants celebrate their time out in their new universes. However, they can't leave where they are.

1972 | |
N/A | There was supposed to be a seventh RLBFDI meet-up this year, dealing with controversial issues such as the split and what Belle's string was attached to. However, this had to be cancelled because President Nixon simply wouldn't let any American TV showrunner go to Soviet Russia.
|
1 January | To celebrate the tenth anniversary of RLBFDI, all contestants who have been age-averaged instantly become five years younger. This is a tradition that was expected to continue for the first day of every year ending in "2", thus 1982, 1992, 2002 etc. |

RLBFB with a side of RLTPOT (1972–present)[]
RLBFB, right before RLTPOT (1972–1973)[]
The era for which RLBFB and RLTPOT are worked on at the same time, with the information regarding RLTPOT still secret.
1972 (cont'd.) | |
7 December | RLTPOT 1: All scenes set in Kenya (i.e., most of the episode) are filmed.[13] A portion of the contest from this episode is used as a teaser—this is the second post-credits scene of RLBFB 27.
|
The intro is photographed. After this day, the contestants start their break.
RLBFB 27: For a second time, editing commences. This day is dedicated for the retrieval of the scene from Kenya, which serves as an announcement of when RLTPOT 1 will be released.
8 December | RLBFB 27: For a second time, editing is finished. |
RLTPOT 1: Editing commences.
11 December | RLBFB 27, "Uprooting Everything", is released. Notable extras that appear in this episode (scouted 18 October to 1 November): Nathalia Carvalho, Stine Dam, Phuong Lincoln, C. R. Turing, Ian Wilson |
13 December | RLBFB 28: Most of the episode is filmed.
|
14 December | RLBFB 28: The post-credits scene is filmed. Editing commences as the contestants go on break.
|
RLTPOT 1: Editing is finished.
23 December | RLBFB 28: Editing is finished. |
25 December | RLTPOT 2: The extra-scouting period begins. |
1973 | |
8 January | RLTPOT 2: The extra-scouting period ends. |
9 January | RLTPOT 1 was expected to be released on this day. Due to issues with the animated introduction—for the first time, it was not filmed live-action—it was postponed to 10 January 1973, one day later. |
RLBFB and RLTPOT (1973)[]
The era when RLBFB and RLTPOT are released almost alternately (if RLTPOT didn't have just one episode).
1973 (cont'd.) | |
10 January | The fifth season of RLBFDI, RLTPOT, comes out with its first episode, "You Know Those Buttons (Don't Do Anything, Right?)". Notable extras that appear in this episode (scouted 6 November to 20 November 1972): Stine Dam, Paulie Porter |
15 January | RLBFB 28, "Back from Beginning (B.F.B.)", is released. Notable extras that appear in this episode (scouted 22 November to 6 December 1972): Céline Cote, Stine Dam |
RLTPOT 2: Filming begins and presumably lasts until 17 January.
17 January | RLBFB 29: The first part of the episode is filmed (everything until 6:09).
|
25 January | RLBFB 29: The majority of the episode is filmed (6:10 to 22:33).[16]
|
26 January | RLBFB 29/30: The post-credits scene is filmed.[17] This and its expansion are used in the next episode as the pre-Cake at Stake scenes.
|
RLBFB 29/30: Because of this sudden continuity in scene, the contestants do not enjoy a break between this episode and the next.
RLBFB 29: Editing commences. As with RLTPOT, the first day is dedicated to retrieving the footage from the other universe.[18]
6 February | RLBFB 29: Editing is finished. |
12 February | RLBFB 29, "Save Our Show (S.O.S.)", is released. Notable extras that appear in this episode (scouted 27 December 1972 to 10 January 1973): Nathalia Carvalho, Stine Dam, Frankie de Vries, Fannie Hateford, Katja Horvat, Nick Jefferson, Columbus Lincoln, Phuong Lincoln, Paulie Porter, Sana Salama, Belle Saleh, Iris Tsukuda |
20 February | RLBFB 30: Most of the episode is filmed.
|
March | RLBFB 30 was expected to be released this month. Due to the sheer size of the episode (not to mention the editing), it was postponed to 9 April 1973. |
19 March | RLBFB 30: The epilogue (and subsequently the end of the episode) is filmed. After everyone's thrown a party for Four, we find out what has happened to the contestants since then (as told in a comic strip by Joaquin on the beach at sunset).
It is assumed that the rest of the contestants have either stayed in Kenya, where the beach scene is set, or gone back and are pursuing careers in their home countries (the first option more likely). Frankly, the future of many of them remains unknown until we next see them. |
RLBFB 30: Editing commences.
20 March | Age-averaged: Pat (silently) |
8 April | RLBFB 30: Editing is finished. |
9 April | RLBFB ends as its finale (and 30th episode), "Chapter Complete", is released. Notable extras that appear in this episode (scouted 30 January to 13 February): Stine Dam, Rafael Kregelin, Bertha McRae, Khaled Saad |
RLTPOT only (1973–present)[]
The era during which RLTPOT is the only show being worked on,[21] starting with the second episode.
1973 (cont'd.) | |
Unknown dates[]
As of today, pertaining to RLTPOT 2:
- We don't know when RLTPOT 2's release date was.
- We don't know when filming for the Exit scenes began and ended.
- We don't know when filming for the Kenya scenes ended; thus the dates of the editing phase are unknown.
Notes[]
- ↑ The almost one-year hiatus is the longest ever of this sort.
- ↑ It should be noted that the parade of recommended characters is always photographed on the same day as the post-credits scene, just like in some of the episodes of RLBFDIA.
- ↑ TPOT 1: 25:41. Again, there is a quickly-appearing caption on the screen that says "about 8 months ago". Unlike the other piece of evidence, this doesn't refer to filming, as I doubt the characters could see it (admit it, there's a non-zero chance they could). But as RLTPOT 1 was meant to come out on 9 January, the EXIT scenes must have been shot eight months earlier. Hence the "about", which still proves true after the episode's one-day delay.
- ↑ Technically this counts as another day, even though they probably walked for, what, three seconds.
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 Actually an ambiguous length of death, due to Four's irregular recovery powers.
- ↑ She and Frederic shouldn't hug for this reason.
- ↑ Anything involving Four also involves the Exit-ers (presumably), as they are inside him. These are invariably Briselda, David, Dora, Eddie, Freddy, Lill, Maja, Penelope, Roboty and Stefan.
- ↑ BFB 23: 11:50. "We've been in here for seven hours." I assume that the earlier scenes take place some time after 5 p.m.
- ↑ She gives herself the nickname "Scribble Girl", which hardly anyone calls her.
- ↑ BFB 25: 9:45. "How did that take you 73 days to find?" Ah, hyperbole. If it really has taken 73 days since the contest started, then the end of the episode would take place in December… even though it came out two months before that.
- ↑ Alas, G.P. doesn't appear in the beginning like Pen did in RegularBFB 27. He's never even been to Afghanistan!
- ↑ Interpret that how you wish.
- ↑ TPOT 1: 0:02. Quite helpfully, TV has written on his screen (visible for less than a second), "recorded 8 months ago", overlaid onto a scene from BFB 17, which would have been recorded 28 April 1972. So RLTPOT 1 must have been filmed eight months later.
- ↑ 14.0 14.1 It should be noted that Renata's deaths (after c. 1968, '69) are usually not fixed by regular recovery, but by simply changing her batteries. There are exceptions, such as if she is completely destroyed.
- ↑ Except for Toni, who remains in Afghanistan with the Announcer.
- ↑ BFB 29: 6:09. "Eight Days Later..."
- ↑ It may have taken eight days to get to the television studio, but they can probably get back within minutes. These are the same people who went to the sun in a day.
- ↑ In this episode, the Kenya scene consisted of a still image of Sana, Phuong and Katja sitting down. It still took a day to get.
- ↑ As an aside, they did a really good job with the continuity: the grass is yellow and the trees green, just as they had become in December 1972. This could well be due to the fact that BFB 30 came out after TPOT and the viewers would be confused, but at least it fits.
- ↑ BFB 30: 39:10. "She's been missing for, like, a day now."
- ↑ That we know of.
