Revision as of 23:43, 23 July 2021

Warning! This page contains spoilers of an unpopular series.

No one likes a spoiler. So when I was looking at random episode pages on the Other Wiki like this one, I was surprised at how much was there that could be considered terrible for the viewer who hasn't seen the episode (but wants to). Granted, I think every episode page on the wiki, even the very first one, has a spoiler warning at the top so first-time fans aren't overwhelmed with the feeling of missing out. But wouldn't it be cool if there was a page full of episode data that you could go to for easy reference?

That's exactly what this page is for, except it won't be about BFDI, but exclusively about the episodes of Fake TPOT.

General note: If you came here for the credits (and don't want to be spoiled), it is advisable that you go to the "Credits" section. Thank you!

What to expect on this page

Example page of BFDIA

An example page on the Other Wiki: It tells all the important stuff and even includes all the thumbnails used throughout the episode's history. Maybe I should do that with Fake TPOT, eh?

The read-only aspect of the series doesn't allow for things like end credits and giant Google Docs with the names of everyone involved in the process (here's to you, TPOT 1),[1] but I do want people have access to what goes on in and behind the scenes of the episodes without, you know, having to read them. It's like SparkNotes, only trashier.

The episode "summaries" are not really summaries (yet). They work the same way as the infoboxes on the Other Wiki, which welcome readers to the most important facts of an episode, such as who was eliminated, who died, when an episode was released and things like that. If I didn't know that the episode template was literally called just that, i.e. "Template:Episode", it would have been very difficult for me to compile all the important aspects of each episode without checking the entire canon for new headings in each episode's infobox.

  • Episode number and title: Always given. Also found on the navbox and the main page.
  • Challenge: Challenge for the episode (indicated by Contest).
    • Challenge winner(s): The team, or later the individual, that won the contest (MVP: Who contributed the most to leading the team to victory). In pre-merge episodes, the teams are listed in order of safety.
    • Challenge loser(s): The team, or later the individual(s), that lost the contest.
  • Contestants
    • Deaths: The contestant(s) who died in this episode.
    • Recoveries: The contestant(s) recovered in this episode.
    • Eliminated: The contestant(s) eliminated in this episode. (Same as "Entered TLC" on the Other Wiki)
      • Elimination finalized: The contestant(s) finally eliminated (if they were eliminated previously but still were able to compete).
      • Sent to Two's hotel: The contestant(s) eliminated (if they were not an official competitor before).
    • Rejoined: The contestant(s) who rejoined in this episode. (Same as "Rejoined TLC" on the Other Wiki)
    • Debuted: The contestant(s) who made their debut in this episode.
  • Things
    • Prize: The "cake" used in this episode's Cake at Stake. (Same as "Cake" on the Other Wiki)
  • Dates
    • Release date: The date on which the episode was released. Note that the year has been subtracted by forty-eight.
    • Date and time finished: The date and time an episode ended (specifically when the last part of the episode was released to this wiki). This is important for one of the credits sections. Before January 2022, times are given in Pacific Time, after that in Western European Time (based on the author's location).

Here is an example of an "episode infobox" for the first episode of the real The Power of Two, "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?"

The episode credits were much easier to write out, in my opinion, for more reasons than the obvious reasons. As someone who has worked on Pencil 2.O for many years, creating "Info" pages (after each episode) with an obligatory "Credits if this were a YouTube show" section, compiling the names of everyone who worked on the episode was a piece of cake. In this section, you will find that some sections are specific to the series, some to the episode and some to acts.[2]

  • Created by (series-specific): Should be obvious. Jacknjellify, all the time. Although Fake TPOT was not written by anyone on the team, it is still my headcanon and thus, to my mind, a part of a series that was created by Jacknjellify.
  • Edited by (episode-specific): Lists all the names of those who have edited the page, even after it is finished. This is because this wiki is open to anyone, and if people want to edit the pages (provided nothing is tampered with), they may do so.
  • Commented on by (episode-specific): Lists all of the names of those who have commented on the page. Unlike "Edited by", this is a static section; the list is frozen exactly twenty-four hours after the publication of the last part of the episode (for which the date is given in the "Episode summaries" part).
  • Voice cast (act-specific): Although I don't expect this to be animated (hell no), you may have a particular voice for a certain character in mind while you read. I don't want to brainwash you, so I'll only list the names of the voice actors we know and leave the rest pseudonymous.

Notes

  1. Now, if I knew how to animate, that would be another story. But I don't, and that's fine.
  2. The "Assets by" and "Voice cast" sections will not be used here, mainly because I don't plan to animate this and the voice cast are already credited on the main TPOT page.
  3. The date and date that the page was split.
